Ron’s racing career started in 1978 racing chariots and the suicide Ben-Hur. In 1987 he started racing Chuckwagon. After his first weekend driving chuckwagon an unfortunate farming accident that caused the loss of two fingers has prevented Ron from driving his wagon again, but the thrill of racing has kept Ron in the sport for the last 2 decades. Ron’s trophy case at home is eveidence of his great horse sense and handling abilities. Ron has been The Interlake High Point Champion in both chariot and wagon. Ron has had numerous drivers for his outfit over the years with the current driver being Kurtis Callander. Ron is known for always having a tough cart team as well as one of the hardest barreling wagon outfits around. You can always find Ron sitting beside other driver’s on their wagon seats sharing some of his dry wit and infinite wisdom that he has accumulated throughout his many years at the track.
